My 7 Non-Negotiables for Feeling Good During the Holidays

  • Gut Health

alexandra-ress

December brings celebration, connection, travel, indulgent meals, and a bit of chaos. As someone who’s walked a long road of gut healing personally and professionally, I know this season can be tough on digestion.

But you don’t have to be perfect to feel good — you just need grounding habits that support a calm, steady gut.

Here are my top 7 gut-health anchors every December:

1. I Start My Day with a Gentle Morning Drink

A warm mug of ginger tea with lemon and a pinch of sea salt helps me feel grounded. Ginger is known to support digestive comfort and reduce bloating. You can also add diluted apple cider vinegar if it works for you.

2. I Make Time for Gentle Outdoor Movement

Walks after meals support digestion and help your body stay in rhythm, especially when paired with natural light exposure.

3. I Don’t Skip Meals

Skipping meals to “save up” often backfires. Eating consistently keeps energy steady and digestion supported.

4. I Prioritize Blood Sugar Balance

Balanced meals with protein, fiber-rich vegetables, and healthy fats help maintain steady energy and reduce the chance of discomfort after meals.

5. I Take a Few Breaths Before Eating

Slow, intentional breaths help move your body into “rest and digest” mode — a game changer for digestive comfort.

6. I Use Targeted Gut Support

Digestive enzymes, ginger, artichoke extract, or herbal teas like fennel or peppermint can be helpful tools for many people during heavier meals or travel.

7. I Say No (Without Guilt) When My Gut Says No

Boundaries are essential. Saying no to an event, dish, or extra cocktail when your body needs rest is an act of self-care.

BONUS: Gut-Friendly Holiday Mocktail — Pomegranate Ginger Fizz

A refreshing blend of pomegranate juice, ginger, lime, and sparkling mineral water.

Final Thoughts

Small, intentional choices can create a ripple effect for your gut. You don’t need to do everything perfectly — just honor what helps you feel your best.
